Learning to Clap

Our Family Picture at Mandi's Wedding; 2 May2009.

Uncle Aaron stayed a short visit this weekend.

I walked in Caroline's room this morning and found her lying in this position. How uncomfortable!

Caroline posing with mommy's old Cabbage Patch Doll.

This weekend Caroline learned to clap. Here is a video of her shortly after we saw her doing it for the first time.

Alex Our Beloved Beagle

Today we had a tragedy in the family. Alex our beagle got out of the yard today and went to the nearest highway just a block away. He went into the road and got hit by a big truck. The worst part of it is it was a slow death. We are very sad about our loss. Alex was such a good dog and very well behaved. He was quirky and made us laugh. Every morning when we woke up in Oklahoma he would stretch and make the funniest sound. When we were in England this past summer we constantly talked about how we missed the dogs and made the same sound Alex made and laughed. This mishap was a bit of a wake up call to us always make time for ones you love for you never know when your last moment with them is.
I'm reminded of a quote from Nicholas Nickelby by Charles Dickens "In every life no matter how full or empty one's purse there is tragedy. It is the one promise life always fullfills. Thus, happiness is a gift. And the trick is not to expect it, but to delight in it when it comes, and to add to other peoples store of it." We love you Alex! -Dad and Mom
